VietHope Youth Development Summit
The VietHope Youth Development Program will kick off its first Youth Development Summit in the Summer of 2009 in Saigon [HCMC].
The summit is an opportunity for you to get hands-on experience working side-by-side VietHope's University Scholarship recipients and volunteers to help better their communities. Through this week-long summit, you will develop skills in project management, communication and teamwork. In particular, participants will work in teams to plan and implement a hands-on community service project in Saigon.
VietHope is still finalizing the community service project but preliminary options include helping an organization working in micro-finance, environmental protection, community beautification, or serving underprivileged children. Participants will prepare for the project in the first 2 days of the summit through skill-building, interactive workshops related to: communications, teamwork, project management, and community service.
At the end of the Youth Development Summit, we hope that participants will have greater confidence and tools to approach problems such as health, poverty, and education in the community. The summit's programming is designed to help participants think about how to assess a new problem, how to solve it, how to form relationships, and how to make plans and execute those plans.
Ultimately, for Vietnamese American youths who want to connect with Vietnamese youths and help communities in Vietnam, the summit is a great opportunity.
